HMRC writing to investors in offshore funds

It has been reported that HMRC is writing to wealthy investors in offshore funds to remind them to declare their income and gains from those funds.

The Chartered Institute of Taxation has advised that the ‘Wealthy and Mid-Sized Business Compliance’ section of HMRC is to send letters to wealthy investors in offshore funds to ensure they declare the appropriate income and gains on their tax returns.
