Record number of fake HMRC websites deactivated

HMRC has removed more than 20,000 malicious websites during the past year, but warns people to stay alert to the threat from online fraudsters.

New figures show that HMRC requested a record 20,750 malicious sites to be taken down in the past 12 months, an increase of 29% on the previous year.
